There was an NHL fight last night. Not an uncommon occurrence in one of the most brutal sports in the world, but this particular altercation was unique on an awesome level.

Late in the game, Kings forward Mike Richards and Sharks center Logan Couture took center stage as they went about simultaneously punching each other, with an hilarious GIF showing the altercation in all its glory.

Fights are part and parcel of the make-up of hockey, and just because we are now in the playoffs doesn't mean that emotions have stopped spilling over.

Quite the opposite, with more at stake at this stage of the season, the LA Kings and the San Jose Sharks traded blows on the ice Monday.

With 5:15 left in the game and the Kings on the verge of tying the series at 3-3 with a 4-1 game lead, Kings forward Richards and Sharks center Couture took center stage with an epic fight.

Watch the video above for the fight in all its glory.
