Kevin Mirallas has been told to keep his opinions to himself about World Cup squad selection and that it is none of his concern if Manchester United's Adnan Januzaj gets the nod.
Belgium manager Marc Wilmots revealed he would be taking the Old Trafford starlet with the provisional 30-man squad ahead of the final selection for the summer showpiece in Brazil, but the prospect of Januzaj maybe going did not please the Everton winger. Mirallas suggested this World Cup has come too soon for the 19-year-old and claimed he had not done enough to warrant a place in the final 23-man squad.
Wilmots did not take too kindly to Mirallas' giving his opinion to the press and insisted Januzaj would be in the squad if he wanted to, while also dismissing the Everton man's claim the Manchester United youngster would not be able to integrate into the squad as "nonsense".
"He (Mirallas) also said that if a striker is needed that Jelle Vossen (of Genk) could be likely. That's not his job. For this, he should be silent," Wilmots told Voetbal International.
"The rules are: you have to talk about yourself, but not the others. On the selection I decide. Kevin may have his opinion, but he should not talk about others, or how new players like Januzaj can affect the group atmosphere?
"Stop talking nonsense. We have never had a problem when there is a new player. For Januzaj that will not be a problem. He has an exemplary attitude."
Manchester United have had a miserable season in which they missed out on getting into Europe after a dismal defence of their title, exits from the domestic club competitions at the hands of Sunderland and Swansea, all of which meant David Moyes was sacked only 10 months after succeeding Sir Alex Ferguson. However, the emergence of Januzaj from the youth ranks has been the silver lining in one serious dark cloud of a campaign.
Belgium are being viewed as a good outsider bet for glory in Brazil, as their young squad is brimming with stars such as Eden Hazard, Romelu Lakaku, Thibaut Courtois and Vincent Kompany, as well as Mirallas.
