Shay Given has been linked with a shock move back to his former club, Manchester City.
As reported in the Wolverhampton Express & Star, Given has expressed a desire to continue playing and is rumoured to be linked with a return to the Etihad Stadium.
With Hart and Costel Pantilimon considered to be the only men for the job after fantastic performances from both this season and taking into consideration that the latter is out of contract in the summer its possible that Given would return to succeed him.
Nothing has been confirmed from either Aston Villa or City. It's unlikely that this would happen as Given is two years into a five year deal which he signed in 2011.
However, in the Barclays Premier League, anything is possible. It's likely Given would welcome the move as he's been excluded from Paul Lambert's plans this season as first choice keeper Brad Guzan is a key figure in the Villa squad. Whilst Given's age is against him, most of his performances are still exceptional.
I believe he would inspire Hart who's failed to replicate his form from the 2012-13 season and could very well keep Manchester City in the top four next season as City's number one. Would this be a welcome move for City fans?
Ten out of a possible 15 clean sheets is impressive over Pantilimon's three out of seven so this is something they should consider.
