Roma star Mehdi Benatia has revealed that he could depart the Serie A outfit because of economic problems at the club.
As reported by talkSPORT, the 27-year-old has insisted that he wants to stay at Roma, but has revealed that his future will ultimately be decided by his manager.
Speaking toTMW, the centre-back said: “Future? I do not want to go away from Roma, but the club will decide with the manager.
“If there were economic problems I would go for the good of the club – otherwise I would stay
A number of clubs have been monitoring the centre-half in recent time, with the likes of Manchester United reportedly interested in his services.
It appears that the Red Devils are in desperate need of summer additions after a disastrous campaign which has seen them slump to seventh place in the Premier League.
Manchester United's captain Nemanja Vidic is set to depart Old Trafford at the end of the season, with the long term futures of Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra still uncertain.
However, it remains to be seen as to whether Manchester United step up their interest in the highly rated Moroccan ace any time soon.
For now though, Manchester United will be looking to end their season on a high and secure a place in next year's Europa League.
