Richard Sherman has been tipped to become the next Seattle Seahawks star to secure a lucrative new deal, with an NFL insider claiming that negotiations are “fairly far along.”

According to, league insider Ian Rapoport has shed light on the talks being held between Sherman and the reigning Super Bowl champions, and revealed that an extension confirmation may come sooner than expected. It’s common knowledge that the franchise are keen to keep Sherman on board, and the report in question states that they are staying out of the free agency market for now so that they can concentrate on ensuring he commits his future to them.

Having recently agreed a deal which saw Earl Thomas become the NFL’s highest paid safety on Monday, it’s thought that the Seahawks have turned the bulk of their attentions towards Sherman. Rapoport concures.

“Make no mistake," Rapoport said.

"Richard Sherman is next for the Seahawks and their contracts. From what I understand, things are fairly far along."

Will the Seahawks tie down Sherman in the next few days? Does he deserve a hefty pay rise for his efforts last season? Let us know in the comments box below...
