Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong caused quite a stir on Twitter last night after poking fun at Jose Mourinho following Chelsea's Champions League semi-final exit against Atletico Madrid.
The Daily Star reports how the 22-year-old faced the wrath of the west London club's supporters after intimating that the Portuguese tactician had gone from hero to zero after the Blues' 3-1 defeat at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.
"Man like Mourinho gone from special one to No one," he tweeted. "The bus driver must have run out of Diesel."
Frimpong is renowned for his social media activity, often making light-hearted jokes and posting pranks at the expense of his team-mates particularly during his time with the Gunners.
Of course, the Ghana international is no longer part of Arsene Wenger's squad after leaving the Emirates Stadium for a new challenge with Barnsley, who were recently relegated from the Championship.
The youngster's relative fall from grace was targeted by Chelsea fans looking to get their own back on Frimpong last night, proceeding to get 'Arsenal to Barnsley' trending as a top ten UK topic.
It prompted another response from the Arsenal reject, who added: "People think if they diss me I get offended lol.
"C'mon bruh stop wasting that 140 letters u been given by Twitter focus on Improving You."
Chelsea fans were understandably disappointed after falling at the final hurdle in Europe's elite club competition, which will now see Atletico take on local rivals Real Madrid in the final in Lisbon in May.
Frimpong meanwhile, will look to rebuild his playing reputation with the Tykes in League One next season.
