The team of Ryback and Curtis Axel are one of the newest tag teams that have been formed in the WWE; but rumours suggest that they are due to split very soon.

'RybAxel' was formed when the two former Paul Heyman guys simply needed something to do on the roster. Some fans might think they are failures as individuals and even worse as teams; but in fact the team breaking up is not the best of ideas.

At the SmackDown tapings which will air on Friday night, Dean Ambrose made a rare defence of his United States Championship in a Fatal Four Way match. He successfully defended his championship against Alberto Del Rio, Ryback And Curtis Axel and during the match Ryback came ever-so-close to dethroning Ambrose as the United States Champion, only for his partner Curtis Axel to accidentally cost him the match.

This would be the latest tag team split, or teasing to split very soon. Before WrestleMania XXX there were many hints suggesting that The Shield would be splitting up, but now they look stronger than ever. Over the past two weeks we have also seen The Brotherhood; Cody Rhodes and Goldust tease some tension within the team; and Cody Rhodes is also due to turn heel.

It's no secret that the majority of fans aren't the biggest supporters of Curtis Axel and Ryback, but inside the ring they work well as a team. Ryback is the powerhouse whereas Axel is a fantastic wrestler - but he isn't blessed with the charisma and that has held him back. If they do break up, then this dilutes the tag team division even further, for a while we were treated to brilliant tag team action but now that the Prime Time Players have split, and the entertaining Real Americans are no longer a team either; splitting RybAxel will only leave the WWE with a handful of tag teams.

The Brotherhood are on the verge of splitting and there is still uncertainty surrounding The Shield. Now with RybAxel's future up in the air the teams we will be forced to watch include Los Matdores, 3MB and the WWE Tag Team Champions, The Usos; with whom they had a great match with this past Monday on Raw.

If and when the break-up occurs, it will once more be a sad time for tag team wrestling; and only one team can stop this from happening.

It will finally be time for The Ascension to rise.
