Not every NFL team has cheerleaders. It's quite a shock I know, but that lowly number of six teams without them is about to become five.
This is because the Cleveland Browns are about to add a cheerleading squad to their roster, according to reports.
Now the Browns are already set to be wearing redesigned uniforms when the 2015 NFL season comes around, and it looks like the addition of cheerleaders is on its way as well.
Although the Browns themselves have declined to comment on the situation, a report by Cleveland Scene's Will Burge suggests they are on the verge of making a decision in favor of bringing a cheer squad.
"As owner Jimmy Haslam and team president Alec Scheiner have previously said, the Browns will be wearing new uniforms, redesigned by Nike, in 2015," Burge explained.
"And, according to a source in the organization, the team has also started moving toward adding cheerleaders for the 2015 season.
"The team has had meetings and started preparations to introduce a squad and is currently in the consultation phase of the process. Reached by Scene this week, the Browns declined to comment through a team spokesman."
Once the cheerleaders are instated for the 2015 season, the next question will be, what should their name be?
Most of the names of cheer squads in the NFL are clever plays on the team's nickname.
The Cincinnati Bengals have 'The Ben-Gals,' Buffalo Bills have the 'The Jills', and arguably best of all the Seattle Seahawks have 'The Sea Gals.'
We shall have to wait and see for the quality name that the Browns think up.
