With Mike D'Antoni finally having brought an end to his tumultuous reign as Lakers head coach with his resignation Wednesday, the Los Angeles franchise have been quick to draw up a shortlist.
And it doesn't quite fit the definition of a short list...
According to CBS Sports the Buss family have already set in place plans to interview a number of candidates with names such as former Knicks coach, Jeff Van Gundy, and current Kentucky HC John Calipari names.
The man who beat Calipari to the NCAA title this year, Kevin Ollie, is also rumored to be on the list as are Byron Scott, Kurt Rambis and George Karl.
It is unlikely the Lakers will rush into any decision regarding a new head coach, but, as the team looks to rebuild following a dismal year, they will hope to have the right person in place well in advance of the next campaign.
Other names linked with the job are current Chicago Bulls head coach Tom Thibodeau, and Kobe Bryant's former teammate Derek Fisher who is likely to retire from playing at the end of the postseason.
