Barcelona consider stunning €50m move for Chelsea starlet

Barcelona have not ruled out a sensational €50million offer for Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois, and are considering their options, according to overseas sources.

Portuguese newspaper A Bola, citing reports in Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, claims that the reigning La Liga champions want to finalise a deal for the 21-year-old in the summer, despite the fact that Atletico are vying to extend his loan and Chelsea want to take him back to Stamford Bridge. Nothing less than a colossal offer would convince Jose Mourinho to part with a player many regard to be the best upcoming goalkeeper in the world, and so Barca are said to be mulling over a monumental proposal worth €50million.

The Nou Camp outfit are in dire need of a quality man between the sticks given that Victor Valdes has signalled his intentions to leave at the end of the season, and in Courtois they would most definitely have an option for a good many years to come.

However the fact remains that he is said to be integral to Mourinho’s plans moving forward, and even if the Blues decided to retain Petr Cech as their first-choice No.1, Barcelona would likely face strong competition from both Atletico and their biggest rivals Real Madrid. Whether or not the proposed €50million fee will be enough to turn the tide in Barca's favour most definitely remains to be seen.
