Liverpool readying £7m Richards bid

Liverpool are preparing a £7 million bid for Manchester City defender Micah Richards, according to The Mirror

If reports are to be believed, Brendan Rodgers' side are ready to snap up the defender this summer as they go in search of improving their squad ahead of the 2014/15 campaign.

Liverpool will enter next year's Champions League and will be desperate for reinforcements as they target a sixth major European title.

And it appears that Richards is high on their priority list, but it remains to be seen as to whether Citizens boss Manuel Pellegrini would be willing to sell the defender to title rival.

If Liverpool are to secure the services of Richards then they may have to battle Premier League outfit Tottenham for the player's signature.

Spurs - much like Italian outfit AC Milan - have been linked with a move for the Manchester City ace in recent time, but it appears that Liverpool are ready to step up in their pursuit to sign him.

Liverpool's immediate attention, however, will be securing three points on Monday evening as they take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Manchester City will be in action first against Everton this evening as the race for the title draws to a climax.
