Manchester United are set to sound out Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola as they continue their search for a new manager, according to The Manchester Evening News.
If reports are to be believed, the former Barcelona boss faces an uncertain future at the Bundesliga giants after a disastrous week, which saw his side eliminated from the Champions League.
Bayern were thrashed 4-0 against La Liga outfit Real Madrid in the Allianz Arena on Tuesday, and now it appears that the Manchester United hierarchy are looking at the possibility of bringing Guardiola to Old Trafford.
However, according to reports it still appears that Dutch coach Louis van Gaal is still in the driving seat to take over as the new Manchester United boss, but United officials will look at Guardiola before confirming any appointment.
Despite his troubles this past week, Guardiola is still recognised as one of the leading managers in world football, and it remains to be seen as to whether Manchester United can tempt him to the Theatre of Dreams.
For now though, Manchester United's immediate attention will turn to their Premier League clash with Sunderland today. The Red Devils will be looking to end a nightmare season on a high under temporary manager Ryan Giggs.
