Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho is stepping up his efforts to sign Bayern Munich striker Mario Mandzukic.
Mourinho is said to be keeping a close eye on developments at the Allianz Arena following reports that the Croatian international has fallen out with Pep Guardiola.
Mandzukic is likely to lose his place in Bayern Munich’s starting line-up next season as Robert Lewandowski has been signed to lead the Bundesliga champions’ attack next season.
A number of top European sides will be in the market for Mandzukic if he does become available - with Chelsea said to be at the head of the queue to sign the Bayern Munich man.
Mandzukic has again shown his outstanding prowess in front of goal this season by netting 18 league goals in 29 appearances.
The 27-year-old former Wolfsburg man would be seen as an ideal fit at Stamford Bridge as Mourinho is planning to sign at least two top-class forwards.
The Portuguese tactician, who is also interested in signing Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa, could move on Chelsea’s attacking trio of Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto’o and Demba Ba in the summer - so will be looking to bring in a number of reinforcements.
