Manchester City are in the process of preparing a monumental €200million offer for Barcelona’s Lionel Messi, according to reports in Spain.
French newspaper Le 10 Sport relays information in Spanish publication AS which alludes to the fact that the Manchester club have retained their interest in securing the services of the Argentine wizard, and want to test Barca’s resolve with a ludicrous formal offer. This follows numerous reports that there were a number of top clubs keeping tabs on Messi last summer, only to be flatly rejected by his current owners.
However whilst the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain may no longer think the capture of Messi is a feasible idea, it’s believed that City - who took a massive step towards clinching another Premier League title this weekend - would be willing to stump up the required cash of €200million.
It’s no secret that the 26-year-old has been out of sorts with Barcelona of late and, despite the fact that he has managed to score 41 goals in all competitions this season, it has been rumoured that the Catalan giants no longer see him as an indispensable asset.
