With EA Sports unveiling their first glimpse of 'Madden 15', it always leads to speculation of who will grace the cover?

A great honour, but one many believe to be at a cost.

The Madden Curse has gained infamy with each passing year; it works on the premise of, the player selected to be on the cover of the game franchise going on to have a disastrous season.

Only two athletes have managed to break the curse, and one of those was retired, with Barry Sanders gracing the cover of Madden 15.

Calvin Johnson Jnr (Madden 13), is the only player to seemingly break the curse, having a monster season and stamping his claim as the best wide receiver of his generation.

So is the curse an actual reality? Or is it just a load of nonsense?

Well out of 17 players to feature, 16 have gone on to have the worst seasons of their careers, with either injuries or form.

Up until 1999 John Madden himself starred on the cover of the game, and he seemed to fair fine, the curse has avoided him. But then the powers that be decided to place an active player on the packaging, and so the curse began.

Garrison Heart doesn't make the top five, but does a deserve a special mention for being the originator of the curse, the running back was smashing records with ease until the season in which he was made a cover star. An average season turned to a dreadful one when he broke his ankle, broke it so severely he didn't play for two full seasons, quite the start to the curse right?

So who has had the worst season coming off the back of their cover appearance?
