The Madden curse - top five victims (5)

#2 Michael Vick (Madden 04)

Michael Vick narrowly misses out on the dubious top stop, but his career has spiralled out of control since he was made the cover star in 2003.

Vick was dominant the season before, leading the Atlanta Falcons into the play-offs, and was famed for his running ability despite being a quarter back.

In fact he was rewarded with a 99 speed rating in the Madden 2004 game, making him the most dominant player ever in the series.

And then the curse struck.

In a pre-season game Vick broke his leg. He returned with five games left in the season, but didn't look the same player, and has struggled since.

Next came the meltdown of his personal life, sentenced to 21 months in prison for his part in running a dog fighting ring, and filing for bankruptcy some time after.

He made a comeback with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2010, and set career highs for passing yards and rushing touchdowns, but still the taint over his name remains.
