Chelsea starlet to hand in transfer request to force €50m sale?

Chelsea starlet Thibaut Courtois is preparing to hand in an official transfer request in order to force through a shock move to Barcelona, according to reports in Spain.

Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, widely regarded as the mouthpiece for the Catalan giants, claims that the Belgian goalkeeper is desperate to move to the Nou Camp at the end of this season admits reports linking him with a €50million transfer. Courtois has once again been sensational in La Liga this year, and is credited as being a key factor in the success Atletico Madrid have enjoyed.

It’s been documented on more than one occasion that Chelsea are keen to make him their No.1 as of the summer - effectively ending Petr Cech’s long reign over the position - but if Mundo are to be believed then the 21-year-old has very different plans for his future. It has been speculated in the past that Courtois wants to remain in Spain for at least one more year, but if Barcelona decide to make their interest official then he could well leave on a permanent deal.

Jose Mourinho probably won’t be too happy about it, but it would seem that he has a serious fight on his hands if he’s to lure the Belgium international back to Stamford Bridge.
