Arsenal have been linked to a number of players over the summer and, with it no secret that Arsene Wenger needs to sign someone, how could their lineup shape up over the course of the summer?

(4-3-2-1)

GK: Wojciech Szczesny

A good season for the 'keeper, he's grown into one of the league's best. Nothing needs to change here.

LB: Kieran Gibbs

Another good signing by Wenger, Gibbs has already received an England call-up. A good overlapping full-back and a fine crosser, Gibbs is worth keeping.

CB: Per Mertesacker & Laurent Koscielny

What to say here? Two of the best defenders in the league and it would be stupid to let either of them go. Must stay.

RB: Sebastian Jung

Strongly linked with Arsenal, the young German right-back could replace Bacary Sagna (who seems set to leave in the summer). Jung has a similar style of play, defending and getting forward and crossing.

CDM: Lars Bender

Arsenal reportedly had a bid rejected in January and a tough defensive midfielder is exactly what they still need. Bender would be perfect.

LCM: Aaron Ramsey

What a season Ramsey has had. One of the league's best players and the first name on the team sheet. Arsenal could be reliant on him in future. Potential PFA Player of the Year candidate.

RCM: Cesc Fabregas

Wenger could activate his £24m buy-back clause. What this means is not only will Arsenal get a world-class midfielder, they'll also get a captain and a club legend in his prime on their side.

LW: Santi Cazorla

It has been a top season for the little Spaniard. He's evolved in that left-wing position and has been truly instrumental to Arsenal.

RW: Mesut Ozil

For me, he doesn't deserve all the criticism that he has received. Ozil's had a good season and will respond well next campaign, I'm sure of it. One of the world's best playmakers.

ST: Loic Remy

Wenger often seems to have a preference for signing Frenchmen and Remy could be available for a bargain price. QPR, who may struggle to be promoted, will be willing to let him go and Remy's move was almost confirmed yesterday when he was spotted in the Arsenal crowd at their match against West Brom. A good striker to lead the line.
