Sources in the U.S have once again hit overdrive with regards to the speculation surrounding CM Punk’s future in professional wrestling, after a T.V show listed him as a WWE star.
WhatCulture relays a video wherein Punk, whilst discussing his passion for the NHL, is described as a ‘WWE Professional Wrestler’. Though still strictly being true, as he remains under contract with the organization, it is at odds with Punk’s previous instructions - given to T.V show The Talking Dead during his last outing in front of the cameras - when he specifically asked to be interviewed under his real name of Phil Brooks.
Hence speculation has now once again picked up momentum, with some quarters believing that Punk being billed as a WWE wrestler means that he must have been working under the company’s umbrella of publicity. Of course the former Heavyweight Champion’s hometown of Chicago is the next venue for the WWE’s pay-per-view event ‘Payback’, which only fuels the rumours of his potential return.
Whilst there’s very little to read into the fact that a producer decided to label him as a wrestler instead of Phil Brooks, the more optimistic Punk fans will see it as a good sign.
