England Rugby 2015, the organisers of next year's Rugby World Cup, have lifted the lid on the general ticket sales window, with all 48 games set to go on sale from September 12 – September 29 this year – oversubscribed matches will be balloted.
Any remaining tickets after that date will go on sale in November 2014 and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.
In addition, 500,000 tickets will go on sale from May 16 – June 30 through the Rugby Community Ticket Programme – a scheme that enables affiliated organisations to reward loyal supporters.
Details on the Rugby World Cup Trophy Tour were also announced today. The Webb Ellis Cup will tour 15 countries as a prelude to the tournament, departing for Japan on May 20, 2014, before charting the globe and touching back on English soil 100 days prior to the competition's opening ceremony.
Speaking on these announcements, Debbie Jevans, England Rugby 2015 CEO, had this to say:
"Our plans are right on track with 500 days to go. We are pleased to announce the dates of the general sale today, allowing fans to save the date and plan.
"We have seen a very strong response to the Rugby Community Ticket Programme and we are pleased we have enabled clubs to recognise their loyal fans with access to tickets for Rugby World Cup 2015 on home turf. From today, members are being registered and 500,000 tickets will go on sale from May 16 – June 30."
