There was a lot of buzz surrounding the highly anticipated return of ‘The Animal’ Batista before the Royal Rumble event earlier this year.
Since his arrival, he has taken on and defeated Alberto Del Rio at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view, he eliminated Roman Reigns on his way to winning the Royal Rumble before headlining WrestleMania XXX in a losing effort against Daniel Bryan and Randy Orton.
After submitting to Daniel Bryan and now reuniting with Evolution; Batista was pinned by Roman Reigns as The Shield defeated Evolution. After reading what has happened since his return; you would expect that Batista is upset over the constant losses.
However, The Wrestling Observer have reported that Dave Batista is reportedly unhappy with the WWE surrounding his pay. Rumours backstage suggest that the money isn’t the best at this stage and Batista has put himself in a good position already, he has made enough money already in the WWE as well as his Hollywood career; so right now nothing can stop him from walking out, similar to CM Punk who also made enough money in the WWE by saving up, and can retire comfortably.
The money doesn’t just affect Batista, apparently a number of superstars backstage are upset with the amount they are being paid but unlike Batista and CM Punk for example, they don’t have the option to walk away from the business as they still need the money to practically survive and what they earn here will be better than other rival promotions.
This financial situation has also taken a toll on future WWE plans, as WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan was scheduled to take on Batista at the upcoming Payback event, but Batista turned down the chance to compete for the gold. This is the reason we saw Kane sit up at the end of his match with Daniel Bryan at Extreme Rules.
If Batista can’t be persuaded to stay until later in June, then the back-up plan is to have a rematch between Kane and Daniel Bryan for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in a Buried Alive match; again this all depends on whether Batista decides to take time off now rather than later.
With the issues, it looks as if Batista has made up his decision and will take time off now rather than in June, so he won’t work the Payback event but will still have to go and promote his upcoming Marvel film; Guardians of the Galaxy, in the summer. WWE officials such as Vince McMahon spent their Sunday trying to convince Batista to change his mind, but it looks as if his return is coming to a sudden halt.
Whether he will return in the summer, it remains to be seen.
