According to Spanish news outlet Marca, Jose Mourinho is making Raphael Varane one of his main transfer targets this summer.

Mourinho has already gone to Chelsea directors and has asked for permission to sign the youngster, as well as a list of others whom he wants to take to Stamford Bridge before next season.

It certainly won't be easy to take Varane out of the Spanish capital, as Real consider the Frenchman to be one of their top talents with the future in mind. If Chelsea do manage to capture their man then it will surely be one of the transfer of the summer.

With rumours about David Luiz leaving in the summer Chelsea will obviously be looking to bring in a replacement for the Brazilian defender and Varane is considered as an ideally capable successor. He has already proved himself as a great defender even at such a young age, performing brilliantly in a number of key matches.

Mourinho is familiar with Varane as he was manager at Madrid during the youngster's first two seasons at the club.
