Van Persie sends warning shot to rivals

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has warned his side's Premier League rivals that the Premier League champions will be back next season.

The Red Devils have had a disastrous Premier League campaign - with the north-west giants looking likely to miss out on a Europa League spot.

Their poor form resulted in the sacking of David Moyes last month, which has left an air of uncertainty shrouding over Old Trafford.

However Van Persie is backing Manchester United to get this season out of their system by returning to the top of the table during the 2014/15 campaign.

The Dutchman, who scored against Hull City on Tuesday night, was in good spirits after his side's penultimate win of the season.

Van Persie, speaking to Manchester United's in-house television station MUTV, said on his aspirations for next season: "Trust me, we’ll will be back. Trust me. Save this interview!”

News of the Dutchman's desire to stay at Old Trafford will be a huge relief to Manchester United fans.

Van Persie, who was linked with a move away from the club earlier on in the season, may have had a major rethink over his future after Moyes' departure from the club.
