One of the worst sights in baseball is seeing a pitcher take a line drive to the head. Upon seeing a pitcher take a hit, no one can deny that pitching is a dangerous job.
Baseball fans were given a timely reminder in the game against the Oakland Athletics against the Seattle Mariners on Tuesday night when a line-drive flew back at Athletics' right-hander Jesse Chavez.
However, in an act of pure instinct, coupled with some incredible skill, Chavez managed to stop the ball hitting him in the head, taking the catch in the process.
Not only did his catch end the innings, it saved him from a potentially serious injury.
Athletics fans know all too well the dangers of a pitcher taking a line drive to the head after Brandon McCarthy was left fighting for his life after getting hit in 2012.
