Soon-to-be appointed Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has named Chelsea's Marco van Ginkel in the Netherlands' preliminary World Cup squad.
Van Ginkel has surprisingly been given the chance to impress Van Gaal - despite the fact he has spent the majority of the season in the treatment room.
The midfielder, who moved to Chelsea in the summer for a fee believed to be in the region of £8million, has not played for the Blues since September 24.
Van Ginkel's last appearance, which was just his fourth for the club, came against Swindon Town in the Capital One Cup.
The 21-year-old, who has played for Chelsea's development side, ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament soon after completing a move to Stamford Bridge.
However Van Gaal has handed Van Ginkel the opportunity to prove his form and fitness before he makes a final decision on his 23-man squad.
Chelsea's Van Ginkel has just two international caps to his name - but has represented his country's youth team with distinction.
