The top headlines from the world of American sport today....

We start in the NBA where Miami and San Antonio both got off to winning starts in round 2 of the playoffs.

Tony Parker grabbed 33 points for the Spurs against Portland, while LeBron James top scored for the Heat with 22 against Brooklyn.

Staying with basketball, we go over to Oklahoma where Kevin Durant picked up the MVP award last night.

The OKC forward swept the vote ahead of LeBron and was brought to tears during his emotional acceptance speech. KD and his teammates face off against the LA Clippers in game two of their series tonight.

And finally to hockey, where the Minnesota Wild shut out Chicago last night to take their first win of the series.

In the other game, the Montreal Canadiens won 4-2 against Boston which saw them take a 2-1 series lead over the Bruins.
