Lionel Messi is keen on bringing Sergio Aguero to Barcelona, according to a TV3 report.

Messi's father and agent, Jorge Messi, had a meeting with club board members Javier Faus and Antoni Rossich, in which Messi suggested that the club sign Sergio Aguero from Manchester City and offer second goalkeeper Jose Pinto a new contract.

Messi is currently negotiating a new contract with Barcelona, reported to be worth €20m (£16.4m) a year, which would make him the highest-paid footballer in the world.

The Argentine international expressed his interest in playing with Aguero, and suggested that the club make a move for him, but did not insist on it.

Messi and Aguero know each other from the Argentine national team, and Aguero would certainly make the already impressive Barcelona offensive line-up even stronger.

Aguero would have a hefty price tag though and Manchester City would be reluctant to let him leave. How Aguero would fit into the Barcelona team also remains unclear, as he would be in competition not just with Messi but also with Neymar.
