Seattle Seahawks cornerback, Richard Sherman today signed a bumper new contract and he has not been short of admirers acknowledging the Super Bowl winner's efforts.

New York Jets' quarterback, Michael Vick has joined the crowd of admirers today on twitter.

Vick tweeted: "Richard Sherman was a 5th round pick. Another definition of hard work and dedication #salute"

Sherman is certainly proof that elite players exist in the latter stages of the NFL draft. He was the 154th overall selection in 2011 for the Seahawks and has been able to parlay that into 20 interceptions in three years, a Super Bowl ring and one huge contract.

It shows a lot of maturity for Vick to express his admiration for Sherman. Vick was the first overall pick for the Atlanta Falcons in 2001 but after his off the field troubles in 2006, he has since been passed around the league a bit and has required to do some hard work of his own.

However, Sherman has shown determination even in the past few months to not be stereotyped because of his upbringing and has been respected both on and off the field.

Sherman's 2014 has so far included a Super Bowl triumph and an inclusion on TIME's list of most influential people in the world.

His contract is certainly a just reward for a year of success for the former Stanford man.
