Louis van Gaal could upset the apple cart at Old Trafford by ditching former Old Trafford heroes Paul Scholes and Phil Neville.
The soon-to-be appointed Manchester United boss has been urged to keep hold of the likes of Ryan Giggs, Scholes and Neville in order to keep some kind of connection with fans of the Premier League side.
However Van Gaal, according to the Daily Star, has decided to move on Scholes, Neville and goalkeeping coach Chris Woods.
Giggs is expected to be handed the assistant manager role after Van Gaal decided against brining Patrick Kluivert to England.
Butt - on the other hand - is expected to return to his previous role of managing Manchester United's development side along with Warren Joyce.
Van Gaal is expected to bring in his trusted entourage that his served him well at the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and the Dutch national team.
The experienced Dutchman revealed on Wednesday that he would love to become the next manager of Manchester United but refused to confirm if he had agreed terms with the Premier League champions.
