With the World Cup less than 40 days away, the footballing world will descend on Brazil, let's examine each individual nation, focusing on the nation, likely squad to go, key player, player to watch and the manager. This is focusing on Algeria.
Algeria finished bottom in the group with one point in South Africa so there is a bit of work needed to improve on last time. If they can make it through their group, it will be a big boost for the team.
With a tough group of Belgium, Russia and South Korea, it's a tough ask but Vahid Halilhodzic will be looking to motivate his squad on doing just this and make a respectable effort. They have a number of well-known players who can perform on the biggest stage.
The Probable Squad of 23:
Goalkeepers - Rais M'Bolhi (Likely No.1), Mohamed Zemmamouche and Azzedine Doukha
Defenders - Madjid Bougherra (Captain), Rafik Halliche, Djamel Mesbah, Essaid Belkalem, Lissaine Cadamuro-Bentaiba, Carl Medjani, Faouzi Ghoulam and Aissa Mandi
Midfielders - Medhi Lacen, Adlene Guedioura, Hassan Yebda, Sofiane Feghouli, Ryad Boudebouz, Foued Kadir, Mehdi Mostefa, Saphir Taider and Yacine Brahimi
Forwards - Rafik Djebbour, El Arbi Hillel Soudani and Islam Slimani
Key player - Medhi Lacen has proven to be an astute player in his time in Spain with Alaves, Racing Santander and now Getafe. His vast experience there will prove useful for the team, especially with the season Getafe have had.
Player to watch - Sofiane Feghouli, the Valencia winger, has proven in recent seasons to be a vital link in the side, with his pace, creativity and flexibility to play in different positions. He is seen as one of the stars of Algerian football so a lot of pressure will be placed on him but a solid World Cup showing will only improve his reputation and gain him more fans.
The manager - Vahid Halilhodzic has vast experience as a club manager with spells at Lille, Rennes and PSG. He has been in charge since July 2011 and, while his record in the African Cup of Nations has not been too impressive, he has left the team to be most impressive in World Cup qualifying. He will be looking to give an impressive showing and potentially sneak into the Last 16, only time will tell of course.
