WWE legend Shawn Michaels has revealed that he was just as shocked as anyone when Brock Lesnar ended The Undertaker’s famous streak at WrestleMania XXX, but believes the man who made the decision, Vince McMahon, has a plan.
The company have been heavily ostracised since the fateful match on April 6, and many believe the outcome will have a negative effect moving forward. However Michaels - who was a guest of Jim Ross’ podcast this week - stated that he believed McMahon had a justifiable reason in his mind when he made the decision to put a one on the right hand side of The Undertaker’s 21 win record.
“Oh, I was shocked. I was shocked,” Michaels said.
“I guess even afterwards I’m somewhat amused. I check the Twitter where you where hear the stories that are out there and none of them are accurate.
“Everybody was stunned,” he added. “You [Ross] know as well as I do that one person and one person only makes that call. As much as everyone wants to think other people have some say so in that they don’t.
“I’m sure in Vince’s mind he’s got a reason, so that’s fine for me and quite honestly none of it is my business anyway, so I don’t worry about that.”
Since the bout on April 6 there has been plenty of speculation as to what The Undertaker’s next move will be, with many WWE fans left to ponder whether or not he’ll ever compete at the top level again (his deteriorating physical state was thought to have been a factor in McMahon’s decision). As for Brock Lesnar, he’s also seemingly taking a short sabbatical whilst the organization figures out their next move.
