Arsenal Wenger has confirmed that the club are close to agreeing a deal which will see speculation over Laurent Koscielny’s future at the Emirates ended.

According to Goal, the Gunners boss revealed that the club are in the latter stages of concluding negotiations with their French defender in a deal which will see him tied to the club past the original expiry date of 2017. Koscielny has been a key part of Wenger’s side this campaign, and his partnership in the heart of the defence with Per Mertesacker has been lauded by fans and pundits alike.

However his impressive form has attracted the attentions of a number of top European sides and Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are all said to harbour hopes of landing him when the summer transfer window rolls around. As such Arsenal have been desperately working to convince him to end the speculation by pledging his future to north London.

According to Wenger, they’re mere days away from success. As he confirmed today: “Koscielny is close to signing a new contract.”

The news will be welcomed by Arsenal fans, as it’s already looking as though Bacary Sagna could be moving on to pastures new when his deal runs out in the coming months.
