The title race in La Liga is still wide open, and with two games left, drama is ensured as Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Real Madrid all still have a strong chance of winning the closest championship race in living memory.

Atletico sit top of the table with 88 points, followed by Barcelona with 85 and Real with 84. Real have the smallest chance of securing the title, with Carlo Ancelotti's men needing wins in their two matches against Celta and Espanyol to have any chance of clinching the title, provided that Atletico get no more than one point out of their two remaining matches, and Barcelona no more than four.

Atletico and Barcelona play each other on the last matchday, and the title could be decided then. If Atletico secure two draws, they will be crowned Champions, but if Barcelona win against Getafe in the penultimate match and beat Atletico in the final match, Barcelona will lift the trophy thanks to their better goal difference, regardless of whether Atletico beat Malaga prior to the Barcelona game or not.

This rather complicated situation means that all teams are highly focussed. Lionel Messi spoke about the dramatic finale at a sponsor event, saying that "we're better today than we have been in recent weeks. We have another chance to win La Liga and it's down to us. We have to take advantage of this situation and not let it slip away"

But Diego Simeone's Atletico side will also be determined to win La Liga for the first time since 1996. Their strong form was dealt a blow last weekend when they lost 2-0 against Levante.

Simeone believes that the sympathies of football fans across Spain lie with them, as he told Cadena Ser that "we are trying to approach things from a different angle and show society and other clubs that you can compete through persistence and hard work. [...] Fans of teams all across Spain are behind us."

This all points towards a tight finish, as the pressure is on all three teams. The final match between Atletico and Barcelona will be one which football fans around the world will not want to miss.
