Unlike David Moyes, Louis Van Gaal's strong links and experience in Europe could help attract some world class talent to Old Trafford; something Moyes would have struggled with at Manchester United.
The manager often gets the finger of blame when players aren’t added over the transfer window; unfairly, when the board make the calls, and confirm the deals.
The media and fans are always trying to force moves, and create speculation; but this kind of pressure tends to lead to the famous transfer deadline deal, known as, the ‘panic buy’.
Marouane Fellani, a prime example of such rushed deals hasn’t found a way to please the fans, and prove his £28 million pound move. So it’s always vital for the board to buy correctly, and never over spend on form (Andy Carroll, anyone?)…
With Van Gaal’s unquestionable reputation, and knowledge of the beautiful game it’s going to become a definite attraction for many players.
Manchester United have been linked with Toni Kroos, Edinson Cavani and many others; and I’m sure a move to one of the greatest clubs in world football, with Van Gaal and the coaching staff he may bring, might be a deal hard to turn down.
According to Daily Mail, Thomas Muller has been linked with a sensational move to Old Trafford, with a £37 million price tag to obtain the German star.
Whilst the move may seem bizarre, and somewhat unrealistic to some, you can’t argue Van Gaal’s managerial ability will certainly be tempting to players of such quality.
At 62, the crazy Dutchman definitely hasn’t got 26 years in his locker, like the cloud he’ll be lying in, being Sir Alex Fergusons; so you can imagine him wanting to make an immediate impact, of which he’ll need to add some depth, and talent.
Or will he surprise us all upon his arrival and offer opportunities to the likes of James Wilson, who delivered on his league debut with two goals.
What Van Gaal will definitely offer is passion, and charisma; which will help enlighten the miserable campaign the Red Devils have had under Moyes. But can the manager, and board, bring talent which Manchester United fans are so badly crying for? We will soon see.
