First off our attentions turn to Manchester United, where the annual Player of the Year awards took place last night.
Despite the dismal season it was an occasion to celebrate the efforts of certain individuals, and it was David de Gea who finished on top of the pile. The Spaniard won Players’ player of the year and Supporters’ player of the year, whilst Wayne Rooney claimed Goal of the season.
Jose Mourinho has been hit with yet another FA fine for his comments made after Chelsea’s surprise 2-1 home loss to Sunderland. The Special One sarcastically congratulated referee Mike Dean following the game and has subsequently been found guilty of improper conduct. The fine is thought to stand at £10,000, although Mourinho has yet to admit he did anything wrong.
Meanwhile it’s bad news for Arsenal as it appears the final nail has been hammered into Bacary Sagna’s coffin with regards to his future at the club. Reports claim the Frenchman has rejected a three-year deal with a significant pay rise, and the club aren’t likely to offer him anymore to try and convince him to stay.
As such the 31-year-old may well depart once his World Cup commitments with France are over.
