Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has heaped praise on Southampton star Adam Lallana.

As reported by Goal.com, the Reds boss has suggested that the 25-year-old is a 'terrific young player', amid reports linking his side with the England international.

Lallana has been a key member of Southampton's side this season and has impressed many throughout the campaign. The Saints ace - who is expected to be part of Roy Hodgson's England World Cup squad - has been linked with a number of England's elite clubs in recent time.

As well as interest from Liverpool, the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham have all tracked the Saints captain in recent time.

Speaking to reporters in his pre-match press conference, Rodgers said: "Adam is a terrific young player....there is always speculation."

It remains to be seen as to whether Liverpool step up their interest in the £25 million rated man in the near future, but for now though focus will turn to this weekend.

If Liverpool can beat Newcastle at Anfield and City lose at home to West Ham United, then Rodgers' side will be champions of England.
