Former WWE superstar CM Punk has retired from the wrestling industry, according to Natalie Slater.

Slater - who is reportedly a close friend of Punk's - suggested that 'The Best in the World' is one of the most isolated people she has ever met.

And, when contributing for redeyechicago.com, she has revealed that Punk recently retired: "Now, he's the recently retired seven-time World Champion, and he's one of the most isolated people I've ever known.

She suggested this despite the constant rumours regarding his future within the industry. Punk hasn't been seen in the WWE since lasting over an hour in January's Royal Rumble, and now his wrestling career appears to be over.

This will come as a major blow for the 'Wrestling Universe', who have been desperate for Punk to make a dramatic return to the company.

With Punk aged just 35-years-old, fans of the WWE will still hope that this most recent speculation turns out to be false, and he still appears in the industry in the near future.

For now though, it looks more likely than ever that the WWE and Punk will go their separate ways.
