San Antonio Spurs produced another outstanding all round performance to dispatch of the Portland Trail Blazers for the second straight game last night, and point guard Tony Parker says it’s all down to great teamwork.
The Spurs have now built up a two game lead in the Western Conference playoff semi-final series against the free-flowing Blazers, and Parker believes it’s important that the Spurs keep adjusting game by game.
In Game 1 Parker managed to post 33 points in an awesome individual display. Understanding that he wouldn’t be giving the same opportunities two games running, the 31-year-old modified his play to ensure his team-mates became the focal point.
“I wanted to control the game because that was what they were giving me. I had some good looks but the ball movement amongst the team was the most important thing,” Parker explained post-game to the press.
“Everyone was making shots and playing well. I didn’t want to force it. We played great as a whole team.”
The Spurs will now travel to the Blazers for Game 3 on Saturday night 7:30pm PST, after protecting their homecourt during the two-game stretch, and Parker and his team will be intent on stealing a game in Portland’s building.
