The La Liga championship match has been set for next Saturday, and the contenders are Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Before last weekend, there were three teams that could win the league - the aforementioned teams and Real Madrid. Now it is down to two because of a poor performance by Real Madrid, and draws by Atletico and Barcelona.

Real Madrid lost their match 0-2 at Celta de Vigo. The two goals conceded were from bad mistakes that Celta striker Charles capitalized on. Sergio Ramos and Xabi Alonso were both at fault for the two goals.

The first was by Ramos who was dispossessed and Charles rounded Diego Lopez for the goal. The second by Alonso came from a bad back-pass that was intercepted by the striker and scored into an empty net. One bright spot in the game were the returns of Alvaro Arbeloa and Sami Khedira.

Khedira was missing in action since November from tearing ligaments while on international duty. Arbeloa had been out since March with a knee injury. Now Real Madrid will need to put all their focus into their Champions League Final clash against Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona traveled to Elche in a game that ended without a goal. The draw for Barca kept them in contention for the trophy and have to win at home against current leaders Atletico. If they won against Elche, they would only need a draw to clinch the title because of goal difference.

It was a thrilling game at Vincente Calderon as Malage held Atletico to a 1-1 draw. Los Rojiblancos had many chances to score in the first half, but excellent goalkeeping by Willy Caballero kept the game scoreless at half-time.

It was Malaga who struck first after a goal by Samuel. Then nine minutes later, a header by Gabi equalized the score. The momentum was with Atletico as they were close to scoring a winner which would have clinched the title at home.

Diego Costa may be available for next weeks final game and that would provide a boost for their chances against Barcelona. All they need to do to win La Liga is get a draw. Then they can focus on their final match of the season in Lisbon against Real Madrid.
