Chelsea's proposed deal to sign Diego Costa will not be confirmed until after the Champions League final on May 24.
The Blues have reportedly agreed a £32million deal to sign Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa in the summer as Jose Mourinho has wasted no time in improving his attacking options.
The Portuguese tactician has made it known on several occasions that he was not happy with Chelsea's forward line.
Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o and Demba Ba have all been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge after a frustrating season for the aforementioned trio.
Costa - on the other hand - has netted 27 goals in 34 league games for Atletico Madrid. The prolific marksman would be a terrific addition to Chelsea if they can get the deal over the line before the start of next season.
A Chelsea insider told The Sun on the potential deal: “No one here wants to do anything to deflect Diego’s attention away from the final.
“So we’re happy to wait until after it to announce the news officially.”
Costa has today been announced in Spain's 30-man squad after deciding to represent La Roja despite initially committing his international future to 2014 World Cup hosts Brazil.
