Chelsea and Atletico Madrid have agreed a £32million deal for striker Diego Costa, according to sensational reports in the Daily Star.
Costa, who has played a starring role in the Spanish club's run towards a possible La Liga/Champions League double, has long been linked with a move to London, with Jose Mourinho desperate to sign a prolific striker. It is believed that Mourinho's primary transfer ambition this summer is to get his business done early in the window, and he looks to have done just that after a bid for the Spain striker was accepted on Monday.
With current strikers Samuel Eto'o, Fernando Torres and Demba Ba having scored a paltry 19 goals between them this season, Costa, whose 35 goals in all competitions have propelled Atletico to the Champions League final and a fantastic chance of winning La Liga, will be seen as a vital coup at Stamford Bridge.
Having scored 30 and 31 goals fewer than Liverpool and Manchester City respectively in the 2013/14 Premier League season, goals have been the real issue for the Blues, with midfielder Eden Hazard finishing as top scorer with 14, their only player in double figures.
Just how big could the capture of Costa prove to be? Let us know in the comments below!
