Published 3 Comments

Manchester United starlet Nick Powell has received a 14-month driving ban and ordered to pay a £5,000 fine for being behind the wheel while drunk.

Powell, who joined Manchester United from Crewe in 2012, was caught driving his Vauxhall Corsa while severely intoxicated.

The 20-year-old did not take part in his side's crucial play-off tie against Wigan Athletic on Monday night as he was was forced into attending Crewe magistrates court in the morning of the Latics' game.

Powell was driving in and around the surrounding areas of Cheshire with his lights off at 3.15am on the morning of Sunday April 20.

The England Under-21 midfielder was pulled over and breathalysed - with his results showing he was over the legal limit.

Powell, who is said to earn around £5,000-a-week, will have to get one of his Manchester United teammates to chauffeur him to training if he is to return to the club next season.
