Diego Costa has confirmed that he is on the way to Chelsea this summer, by way of telling his Atletico Madrid team-mates that the deal is a certainty to be completed.
According to the Express, the Spain international has already revealed to first-team players at Atletico that he is packing his bags at the end of the season, following rumours that a £32million deal has been agreed. Reports claim that the Blues met Costa’s release clause last night and were in talks with his representatives, but it may very well transpire that an agreement has already been reached.
It’s thought that Jose Mourinho will consent to the sale of David Luiz to Barcelona in order to finance the move for the in-form striker, and is keen to push through the deal before the start of the World Cup next month.
With the lacklustre form showcased by Fernando Torres, Demba Ba and Samuel Eto’o in front of goal this season, Costa will more than definitely become Chelsea’s first-choice striker. Mourinho has repeatedly stated his desire to acquire a big-name forward in the summer, and if the reports are true then he already has his man.
