It would appear Chelsea are moving ever closer to completing their first transactions of the summer, before the transfer window has even opened.

Multiple reports claim that the Blues are doing their best to engineer a deal which would see them land Diego Costa for around £32million, whilst rumours suggest that David Luiz is in advanced talks with Barcelona.

The main story coming out of Old Trafford concerns the confirmed departure of Rio Ferdinand from Manchester United this summer, after the player revealed last night that he wasn’t going to be offered a new deal for next season.

Ferdinand will join defensive partner Nemanja Vidic in leaving the club before the start of next term, and it’s said that United are already lining up Borussia Dortmund star Mats Hummels as his long-term replacement.

Meanwhile Arsenal fans have every reason to celebrate, as this morning’s papers see them linked heavily with Real Madrid star Angel di Maria.

The winger’s future has yet to be confirmed in the Spanish capital, and Arsene Wenger knows he is under pressure to spend money on improving his squad. It’s thought a colossal €40million bid would convince Madrid to sell, though it remains to be seen whether or not the player is willing to make a Premier League switch.
