Golfing World News: May 13

After several missed opportunities, Adam Scott will now definitely become World Number One next week.

The Australian is set to displace Tiger Woods at the summit of world golf, even though he’s not playing at this week’s Bryon Nelson Championship.

It would take some time to explain every detail of the Official World Golf Rankings so you’ll just have to trust us, that Adam Scott will become the first Australian since Greg Norman to top the standings come Monday.

And, despite an uneven performance at The Players Championship, Scott has another reason to celebrate after he confirmed that he really is no longer on the market.

The 33-year-old married his long-time girlfriend, Marie, in a low-key affair shortly after the Masters - and even the guests weren’t aware they were attending a wedding.

According to Scott only the pair’s parents knew what they were about to witness, with the other attendees thinking they were off to a party!

Now, by ending his winless streak at The Players Championship, Martin Kaymer collected a cheque for $1.8million.

But even with all that money, the German still has to slum it with the rest of us…. Snapped by one golfing journalist, Kaymer was forced to sit on an airport floor so he could charge his phone, whilst he waited for his delayed flight out of Florida.

Rumour has it, that his first big purchase will be a private jet!

Well that’s all for today but join us tomorrow as we begin to look ahead to this weekend’s action. Before then you can find us on Twitter @golfingworldtv and we’re also on Facebook and Instagram. Thanks for watching.
