News broke today that current WWE Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan is facing neck surgery, and thus a lengthy period away from the organization.

With Bryan having been built up by the WWE in recent months to be one of the leading lights for the forceable future the news has certainly put a spanner in the works for Vince McMahon and co.

In the wake of the news former wrestling icon, and all round WWE guru, Mick Foley expressed his concern via his official Facebook page:

"NECK SURGERY FOR DANIEL BRYAN?"

"Is it legit? Obviously, this would be a devastating blow - not only for WWE, but for Bryan Danielson, who has worked so hard to earn his spot at the top of the card," wrote Foley.

Reports suggest Bryan is facing up to two months out of action at a time when it was hoped he could capitalize on the Yes! Movement which has grown popular with WWE fans and the news will frustrate those who have bought into his character.

Bryan won the top WWE title at Wrestlemania XXX and Foley's comments are likely to be echoed throughout the organization as the wrestler enters rehabilitation.
