Robert Pires believes Arsenal fans will see the best of Mesut Ozil next season following a tough debut season in the Premier League.
Ozil hit the headlines last summer after Arsene Wenger trebled Arsenal's transfer record to purchase him from Real Madrid for £42m.
Naturally, the world was expected from the German playmaker but, despite showing glimpses of his brilliance, Ozil has struggled to stay at a consistently high level for the Gunners.
According to former Arsenal star, Pires, that is all set to change next season. The Frenchman has compared Ozil's situation to his own, saying he initially struggled to adapt to life in north London.
Pires told the Daily Mirror: "I like Ozil. He is a very good player, with quality. My first game was at Sunderland and when you come to the UK it's very difficult because the football is completely different.
"For me, it was very difficult for six or seven months. When I see Mesut, I say he has had a good first Premier League season. Next season, he will be much better.
"After six or seven months, it gets easier. It's totally different in the UK and now Mesut knows!"
Pires, 40, has also warned Ozil and his team mates not to take Hull City for granted as they compete in their first FA Cup final for nine years.
If Arsenal can win their first trophy for almost a decade, however, Pires believes it can kick start a new era of success at the Emirates Stadium.
Pires added: "If he (Wenger) wins the FA Cup, it's very good for him and for the spirit and the minds of all the players.
"You have one more step, the most important, the most difficult. Because when you play a final, it's special, especially the FA Cup.
"That's a very good opportunity because the club has not won a trophy since 2005. For the fans, for the club, for the board, for Arsene Wenger, the final is very important.
"It is very important psychologically. Every player knows it's very hard to win a title, especially after a long time. They must keep focused on the final and Hull City.
"Everyone knows it's not an easy game. We won 3-0 a few weeks ago. Premiership and FA Cup Final is totally different.
"In football you can always be surprised. You remember when Arsenal played the final against Birmingham. Everyone said easy for Arsenal. The final is never easy. It's a very good opportunity for the players, for Arsene and especially for the fans."
