The second half of Newcastle's season was definitely been one to forget for Alan Pardew's side with only four wins in the league after Boxing Day. Pardew, however, has set out his transfer plans for the summer and, according to the Daily Mail, is chasing the signatures of two of Manchester's bright young talents, Wilfried Zaha and Jack Rodwell.
Zaha publicly hit out at David Moyes this week describing how, claiming he was not trusted by the former Manchester United manager. It is clear that Zaha is unsettled at Old Trafford after a season in which he made little claim for a first-team spot and was loaned out to Cardiff in January.
Newcastle look like a side that need a lift if they are to regain some of the form they have shown over the last couple of seasons and Zaha could prove an excellent signing, especially if reports of Hatem Ben Arfa leaving Tyneside are true.
Similarly to Zaha, Rodwell has also found opportunities limited during his time at Manchester City and a swoop for the former Everton man could be fruitful for Pardew as he looks to freshen up his squad.
The departure of Yohan Cabaye in the winter transfer window has left Newcastle's midfield desperately lacking quality and if Rodwell can keep himself fit he could prove to be a big asset for Pardew. Strong, powerful and good on the ball, Rodwell would fit into a system alongside Cheick Tiote and provide some much needed composure to the Newcastle midfield.
