Due to the nature of the match falling outside the agreed IRB (International Rugby Board) Test window as well as Premier Rugby’s policy of only allowing England players to be released outside the specified window, Bath pair Gavin Henson and Paul James will be unavailable to play any part in the match which takes place in Swansea on May 30, just one day before the Aviva Premiership final.

The match which is set-up as a try-out for Warren Gatland as he looks to finalise his Welsh squad for a two-Test series against South Africa, will take place just ten days before Wales’ warm-up match against Eastern Province Kings in Port Elizabeth before back-to-back tests from June 14.

The Probables side which is headed by Rob Howley contains 19 of the recent Six Nations team, however, the former international has named two uncapped players in the form of Dragon’s prop Owen Evans and Osprey Sam Davies

A host of injuries rules out several first-team regulars including Sam Warburton, Justin Tipuric, Gloucester-bound Richard Hibbard and Scarlets centre Scott Williams as well as full-back and last summers Lions man of the series Leigh Halfpenny.

Henson, 32, who has had a resurgent season at Bath, was hoping to make the Welsh squad for the first time since a World Cup warm-up match against England in 2011 but this looks increasingly unlikely, especially after todays ruling.
