Oriol Rosell has been a huge success in his spell with Sporting Kansas City in the MLS.
Such a success in fact that European namesakes, Sporting Lisbon are reportedly keen on acquiring his services this summer.
CNN sports producer John Sinnott today claimed that the Catalonian was on his way out of KC:
"Former La Masia graduate Oriol Rosell is heading to Europe. Leaving Sporting Kansas City for Sporting Lisbon," Sinnott wrote Wednesday.
Rosell arrived in the US from the Barcelona youth set up having made six appearances for the Barcelona B team.
Since then he has excelled in the defensive midfield role for Sporting KC, making 42 appearances and posting passing numbers that former FBC man Xavi have been proud of that have led him to become a firm favorite with fans.
Lisbon finished second in the Portuguese Primeira Liga last season and have history of recruiting from the MLS having brought in striker Fredy Montero from the Seattle Seahawks last year.
Sporting Kansas City meanwhile are expected to fight to keep their man, with a spokesperson refuting the transfer claims Wednesday afternoon.
Rosell however may be tempted to head back to Europe this summer.
